On September 12-16, 2022, DIDEAS hosted the Short Term Joint Staff of the project in Castellón, Spain, which brought together representatives from member organizations of the consortium, including Yalova University, SUYMERBIR, AKSAM, Innopolis, CEIPES, and DIDEAS.
The week was filled with activities related to the fishing industry and fish consumption, including experiences in aquaculture, marketing, and culinary techniques.
On Monday, participants were introduced to each other over lunch and received a presentation and guided tour of the DIDEAS offices, where they learned about the project’s objectives and goals.
On Tuesday, they visited the Institute of Aquaculture Torre de la Sal, a center dedicated to aquaculture research, and learned about its history, activities, and contributions.
Wednesday was dedicated to exploring the maritime district of Grau de Castellón and Castellón city, including a visit to the Museum of the Sea and a culinary workshop at GASMA.
Thursday involved a visit to the port of Castellón and the local fish market, where the biosecurity protocols were explained.
On Friday, participants learned about fishing techniques and fish consumption from an expert fisherman and took part in practical demonstrations.
The week was punctuated by social lunch and dinner events at seafood restaurants.
