Nature-Based Solutions
At INNOPOLIS, we view the environment not only as a natural asset to be protected, but as a living system that shapes communities, cultures, and sustainable futures. Through our work in EU-funded initiatives, we actively promote Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) as a pathway to address environmental challenges while strengthening the connection between people, place, and biodiversity.
Our approach integrates ecological knowledge with community engagement, combining scientific research, digital innovation, and participatory methodologies. Inspired by projects such as ECHOLOCI, we explore how natural ecosystems—landscapes, soundscapes, and traditional land-use practices—can inform more resilient and inclusive environmental strategies.
We work closely with local communities, researchers, environmental organizations, and public authorities to co-design solutions that:
- enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services,
- support sustainable livelihoods, including traditional practices such as transhumant pastoralism,
- and foster environmental awareness through experiential learning and digital tools.
From participatory environmental mapping and soundscape analysis to community-based conservation and climate adaptation actions, INNOPOLIS places nature at the core of innovation. Promoting sustainable land management practices, including transhumant pastoralism, as key contributors to biodiversity, climate adaptation, and cultural landscape preservation.

Developing digital tools and platforms that support environmental monitoring, data collection, and participatory mapping, contributing to the digital transition for sustainability and evidence-based policymaking.
