Crossing Borders for Ideas That Grow Communities

InnoPolis joins the BIO-DISTRICT APP D3.3 Workshop in Bari

Today, the Greek partners of the BIO-DISTRICT APP project travel to Bari for a cross-border exchange we have been preparing with passion. Tomorrow, 26 June 2026, at the CIHEAM Bari Campus in Valenzano, InnoPolis will take part in the project’s D3.3 Workshop — “Bio-Districts and Territorial Development: Experiences, Best Practices and Digital Innovation”.

One question, two countries, many communities

One shared question brings together Italian and Greek partners around the same table:

How can digital technologies truly serve our local communities, our farmers, our heritage and our land?

The workshop will explore concrete answers, drawing on real experiences from both sides of the Adriatic. Among the day’s highlights:

  • 🐄  Geolocation of herds in the Val di Vara Bio-District — a flagship Italian case showing how smart tracking supports sustainable livestock management and traceability.
  • 🌾  ICT services for the territory in Apulia and the Lame Bio-District — digital tools that strengthen the bond between producers, citizens and the land.
  • 🇬🇷  Best practices from Western Greece — a joint presentation by InnoPolis (PP5) and the Region of Western Greece (PP4), sharing the region’s growing ecosystem of platforms for agri-food, tourism and cultural heritage.
  • 🤝  A co-design session — turning inspiration into concrete next steps for the territories involved.

InnoPolis on the ground and in the field

As WP2 Communication & Dissemination leader, InnoPolis will be present throughout the day, capturing every key moment — voices, ideas and best practices — and sharing them with the wider Bio-District community in the days that follow. The objective is simple: to make sure the insights generated in Valenzano travel beyond the workshop room, reaching farmers, local authorities, cooperatives and citizens who will ultimately shape the bio-districts of tomorrow.

A heartfelt thank you

A warm thank you to CIHEAM Bari for the generous hosting, to Marie Reine Bteich and her team for the impeccable organisation, and to the Joint Secretariat of Interreg Greece–Italy for accompanying our journey with care and continuity.

This workshop is more than an item on a project calendar — it is a reminder that real cooperation is built on shared meals, shared questions, and shared hope. We carry these from Aigion to Bari with great anticipation.

Stay tuned for live updates and stories from the day throughout 26 June 2026.

The BIO-DISTRICT APP project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Greece–Italy Programme 2021–2027 (MIS 6005158).
